I just finished up the labeling and packing up a wholesale order of lavender massage massage oil for a local day spa wholesale account. This is for the point of purchase (retail) area of a local spa in Virginia Beach, VA.
They also purchase gallon jugs of this same mixture (grapeseed oil, fractionated coconut oil, and essential oil) for their back bar massage use.
I love selling this product, as it is 1. very easy to make, 2. anhydrous and pump based so no preservative is needed, and 3. It has a great profit margin.
Don’t forget to approach the manager of local Day Spa’s in your area. They often need to have marketing campaigns every six weeks. Their job is to keep current customers coming back in that 6 week duration, under the guise of New products, New services, etc. Often the manager seeks season themed ideas to elicit excitement from both old and new clients.
Don’t be afraid to cold call with some themed ideas for the spa manager to generate some new traffic to her spa. Usually three fragrance/essential oil scents are needed, and generally three items that can be purchased separately at the front retail area as well as be incorporated into “spa packages” in the back.
Think Body Polish, Body Wrap, followed by a Body Massage. This gives you three products to sell to the spa in the back bar. The spa manager will bundle them into a “Spa Package” for their existing client base.
The fragrance or season theme will be her sell point. So, for instance May is Mothers Day, Cherry Blossoms, Freshen Up For Summer, ect. Your fragrance selections might revolve around Floral (Cherry Blossom events, Lilac Festivals, Azalea Festivals, Strawberry Parades, etc), Decadent Gifts (Mother’s Day Chocolates, Summer Fruits), or even the Natural side with crisp, clean Eo’s to soothe pre Summer Body Image Jitters.
Candles also sell well in the retail area of the spa that I service. I match up my offerings in candle with three fragrances that coordinate with the back bar service items I sell to them.
It is fun, because every six weeks I get to change out with new ideas!
